Do I have to have learning disabilities or other learning challenges to enter the contest?

No. You do not. We are seeking videos on overcoming learning challenges. You do not need to have a learning challenge to enter.  But insight into learning challenges is necessary. You may be inspired by a brother, sister or close friend.

Can I use a program like Animoto or MovieMaker?

Absolutely! You are welcome to use any video slide show maker.

I want to do a video-recording of me sharing a message. I will be responsible for adding credits and doing the work to get the video ready to enter.  Does this mean that I need to enter as a team with the other person who helped me with a few things? If I win, do I need to share the prize with them?

We all ask for and get help with many projects. It is a matter of degree. If you are satisfied that the video represents your work, then you do not need to enter as a team of two. However, it is always nice to say thank you. You may want to identify people who helped you in the credits of your video.

I am taking a multi-media class at school.  Can I do this video as a school project?

We are all for having projects overlap this way.  If it is okay with your teacher, it is okay with us, as long as you follow all the rules.

I want to enter, but our family has some really important personal reasons for not wanting my name publicly announced or displayed. Is there a way around this?

Contact us. We are willing to consider your circumstances, but cannot make any promises.

I entered another video contest and did not win. Can I enter the same video?

No, you cannot enter that same video. If you decide to make significant revisions to that video, then you can enter it into this competition.

I create my own music. Can I use it as the music track for a video? Does that mean you own my music?

As long as you create the music or have a right to use it, you can include it in the video. Once you submit the video, the video becomes the property of the LDAA. But, this does not include the music.

I want to secretly record kids that have difficulty learning and use this in the video. Is this permissible?

No, it is not.

Can I record people under 18 years of age?

Yes, but you must get the written consent of their parents or legal guardians. This consent form must be included with the entry form. You can download this form from the Entry Forms page.
