Welcome to the Learning Disabilities Association of Alberta Provincial Conference. We are thrilled to invite you to Calgary to partake in this exciting event. We hope this conference inspires delegates to help children and adults with learning disabilities and related disorders to “Colour outside the Lines.”

Keynote Speakers
Actors and long-time friends, Danny Glover and Felix Justice – In Conversation.
Richard Lavoie M.A., M. Ed will be joining us for two mornings (Oct. 7th and 8th ) as our keynote speaker.
Richard Lavoie M.A., M. Ed holds three degrees in Special Education and has served as an administrator of residential programs for children with special needs for 30 years. Best known for his video, How Difficult Can This Be?: The F.A.T. City Workshop, Rick’s experiences have provided him with a “living laboratory” in which he developed and refined his methods and philosophies related to the education of adolescents with special needs. Rick will present two sessions at the conference; The Motivation Breakthrough: 6 Secrets to Turning On the Tuned-Out Child and Last One Picked, First One Picked On: The Social Implications of Learning Disabilities. Rick’s sensitive and compelling message is sure to inspire.
Psychologist Symposium
Best Practices in the Assessment of Learning Disabilities and Co-morbid Conditions across the Lifespan Michael Zwiers, Ph.D., R. Psych. and Anne Price, Ph.D., R. Psych.
This full day Interactive Symposium for psychologists will focus on best practices in the assessment of learning disabilities across the lifespan, the communication of findings and diagnoses, and the consideration of co-morbidities. The day will offer a blend of information, current issues, and opportunities for discussion. Population-specific break-out groups will take up case studies, which will progress from more straight-forward LD profiles to more complex profiles with co-morbid presentations.
